Installing Microsoft .NET 4.0 for TaskMerlin Version 5
Note: This section refers to TaskMerlin Version 5.
If you are using an earlier version of TaskMerlin, please refer to the
Older TaskMerlin Versions instructions below.
If you are using Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 then the .NET Framework 4.0 will already be installed on your computer.
If you are using Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, then install the .NET Framework 4.0 as an optional update by
clicking on the Start button on your Windows Desktop and then selecting All Programs | Windows Update.
If you are using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, then download and install the .NET Framework 4.0 via the
Microsoft Download Center.
About Microsoft .NET
What is Microsoft .NET?
The .NET Framework is a component of Windows created by Microsoft. In
order to operate, TaskMerlin requires the .NET Framework version 4.0 to be
installed on your machine.

Check to see if you have .NET installed
If .NET is not installed on your PC, you will receive the following message
when you run the TaskMerlin setup.
TaskMerlin requires the Microsoft .NET Framework version
4.0.30319. Please install the .NET Framework and run this setup again. The .NET Framework can be obtained via
the Interfathom website. Would you like to do this now?

Older TaskMerlin Versions
This section is provided to support TaskMerlin versions prior to version 5.
It is recommended that you upgrade to the current version of TaskMerlin which does not require Microsoft .NET 2.0.
Installing Microsoft .NET 2.0
If you are using Windows 8, then you will need to enable the .NET Framework 3.5 (which includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) in
the Windows Control Panel. For instructions, please refer to
Installing the .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8.
If you are using Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 then the .NET Framework 2.0 will already be installed on your computer.
If you are using Windows XP, then install the .NET Framework 2.0 as an optional update using
Microsoft Windows Update or by
clicking on the Start button on your Windows Desktop and then selecting All Programs | Windows Update.
