About Microsoft .NET
What is Microsoft .NET?
The .NET Framework is a component of Windows created by Microsoft. In
order to operate, TaskMerlin requires the .NET Framework version 2.0 to be
installed on your machine. If you are using Windows Vista, the .NET framework
will already be installed.
You can learn more about it from the Microsoft .NET home page.
Check to see if you have .NET installed
If .NET is not installed on your PC, you will receive the following message
when you run the TaskMerlin setup.
TaskMerlin requires the Microsoft .NET Framework version
2.0.50727.
Please install the .NET Framework and run this setup again. The .NET Framework can be obtained via
the Interfathom website. Would you like to do this now?
The .NET Framework can be installed from the Microsoft website and is
approximately 23 MB in size. Refer to the instructions at the top of this page for more details.
What if I have a dial-up connection?
The .NET download takes approximately 2-4 minutes using a broadband internet connection, and
57 minutes with a dial-up 56K modem. If this is not a convenient option for you, some alternatives are listed
below:
- Download the .NET installation file on a computer with a broadband
connection, and transfer the file to your computer using a CD, DVD or USB memory card;
- Check your local newsagent or bookstore for computer magazines with
a cover CD or DVD containing the .NET installation file.
For earlier TaskMerlin versions: Installing Microsoft .NET 1.1
This section is provided to support TaskMerlin versions prior to version 1.4.
It is recommended that
you upgrade to the current version of TaskMerlin which does not require
Microsoft .NET 1.1.
